A Crowded Turret Room

A repertoire that included such holiday favorites as Greensleeves, The Coventry Carol and Carol of the Bells was well received by the audience who enjoyed the rare opportunity to hear the sound of three full-sized concert harps played beautifully.

Introduced by Executive Director Ann Stirling,  the harpists arrive

The lead harpist,  Ruth Myers has appeared with the Detroit Symphony, the Michigan Opera Theater and has recorded with the Clarion Wind Ensemble.  On the faculty of Eastern Michigan University,  her talents are much in demand and she has taught at Michigan State and the Tanglewood Institute to name a few.  Her accompanists,  Katherine Oppermann and Celisa Guitierrez are accomplished students and have played with many Michigan symphonies and orchestras.

The Lawrence House participated for the first time in the Kinsman Santa Claus Parade that was held on Saturday Dec. 06th. In partnership with Shadowland Theatre, a host of LHCA volunteers and the many donations of empty water bottles we created a replica of the Lawrence House constructed entirely of recycled materials and LED lighting. The effect was truly magical, reminiscent of an ice palace shimmering in the snow.

The process of the construction was complimented by many curious visitors dropping in to watch, and many people were delighted with the concept and clever use of the materials.
